What is financial lease?

Business car lease with a buy-out option at the end

Laatst gecontroleerd: 24 May 2026

Financial lease is mainly for entrepreneurs and freelancers (zzp). You pay monthly for use of the car.

At the end you can often buy the car for a pre-agreed amount: the residual value (restwaarde).

It is different from private lease and from operational lease where you usually return the car.

Example (illustrative)

about € 520 per month

Car price € 35,000, 48 months, residual value € 12,000.

You pay interest and depreciation on the difference. Monthly cost often between € 450 and € 650 depending on rate and fees.
